BIRTH TO THREE YEARS

Birth2Three
In our research, we discovered many other parents like ourselves, were not aware of the framework and standards for children from birth to 3 years, called Birth to Three Matters. We both work full-time. My husband works in the investment banking sector as a research analyst and I have worked for many years in local government covering different areas from Social Services to Housing.

We discovered the “Birth to three matters framework and standards” by chance. We requested this publication and we can assure you it will encourage education and learning from an early age. It also equips us as parents with some tools required for working in partnership with childminders, playgroups, nurseries, reception classes and any other settings for early years.

Had we known of the “Birth to three matters framework and strategy” before our children started the nursery, we would have asked additional questions about how this strategy is implemented in the nursery our children attend.

As parents first then as professionals, we like others, invest a lot of time at home educating our children through play, socialising, reading, counting, spelling etc. It's great fun and very rewarding when our children learn new things and a lot of the time this can be any place and anywhere.

The Birth to three matters has certainly helped us to ensure that our day care provider is proactive and not reactive. In working in partnership with the nursery our children’s learning has increased and consistency is maintained.

It is reported that this framework is designed to focus on four aspects of our child’s growth, learning, development and environment.

These four aspects are: a strong child, a skilful communicator, a competent\learner & a healthy child.
